What kind of accommodations will we stay in?
We arrange for Student Ambassadors to stay in a variety of accommodations during
their programs. This is to ensure that our participants have the richest
cultural experience possible. The majority of the time students stay in hotels;
however, all of our programs strive to take advantage of unique situations. We
may arrange for stays in youth centers, dormitories, hostels, guesthouses, or
ranches. Some programs also include a stay at a local family’s home, guest farm,
or outdoor adventure accommodation. These accommodations are used from time to
time because they enhance the overall educational experience of the program.
On occasion, we also use night trains or overnight ferry services to maximize
the time students spend in various destinations. These accommodations are used
only when they improve the overall quality of the program.
What are the accommodations like?
While in hotels, Student Ambassadors stay in three- or four-star properties.
These hotels comfortably accommodate three or four students per room, with one
student per bed. Students are not asked to share beds at any time during the
program.
During special experience stays, such as farm stays, marae visits, guest houses,
or other opportunities, students can expect a slightly different style of
accommodation, which may be similar to a bunk house or dormitory. These
facilities have a full host of amenities and are included because they expose
students to interesting and educational cultural elements that are not available
in a hotel.
