Departure Dates
What is the departure date?
Departure dates are often given at the information meeting. If a departure date
is not announced at a given information meeting, it will be released
approximately 180 to 150 days prior to departure (approximately between December
20, 2008 and February 1, 2009). Due to airline industry changes and routing
restructures the departure dates are again confirmed at approximately 60 days
prior to departure with the release of the air itineraries.
Is there a chance a delegation will be scheduled to depart before delegates
are out of school?
No, the program office considers delegates’ school term closure dates when
scheduling a program departure date.
Can I request a specific departure date?
Specific departure dates or travel with a specific group of participants or
specific delegation leaders cannot be guaranteed. Delegates agree to accept any
assigned departure date that does not interfere with the official school term.
Departure dates for 2009 summer programs will be announced approximately 180-150
days prior to the program departure date and confirmed 60 days prior to the
program departure date.
I have a specific commitment, and know I can’t travel during a specific time
period. Should I wait to enroll until a departure date is announced?
We encourage students to enroll as soon as possible to secure their place in the
delegation. If a student’s finalized departure date conflicts with a previous
commitment, please notify the program office immediately to find out if
alternate dates are available. Please note this may mean traveling with another
delegation or to a different destination. If we are unable to find a delegation
that meets your needs and you should choose to withdraw, fees will apply as
stated in the Terms and Conditions.
Leaders, if you have a conflict with a travel date, please contact your area
director or regional manager and ask if you can be placed into a different
delegation. We do not change dates for family events, weddings, etc. We will
only consider changing a date hat conflicts with the school year.
