What is a local information meeting?
Local information meetings are conducted by People to People Admissions staff to
provide program details to students and families.
The most beneficial aspect of the information meeting is the opportunity to
speak to students and families who have participated in past programs. Students
and their parents will see video highlights of the program and learn about the
history of People to People. Application materials will be distributed, and
families can meet local teachers involved with People to People Ambassador
Programs.
How does a student reserve a spot at an information meeting?
Students can reserve their space in one of two ways:
1. Call the program office at 800.669.7882 and speak to a program representative
2. Go online to
http://reserve.studentambassadors.org/reserve/login.aspx.
Can a student invite a friend to the information meeting?
Yes, students can invite other relatives, neighbors, and friends in grades 5-12
to the information meeting. Because our programs are arranged by grade level
(into grade school, junior high, or high school delegations), the student and
his or her guest may or may not be traveling on the same itinerary, but it is
still a valuable opportunity to learn more about the Student Ambassador program.
What can leaders do before the local information meeting to help students get
involved in the program?
Help identify potential Student Ambassadors from your school and community by
June 1. You can do this from the leader website by clicking “Recommend” in the
menu on the left-hand side of the page.
Post meeting notices at your school one month before the meeting.
How should leaders prepare for the meeting?
Leaders should dress professionally (shirt and tie for men, dress or nice slacks
for women). People to People polo shirts in good condition and nice slacks are
also acceptable; please do not wear jeans. Expect to speak briefly on why you
are excited to be a part of the program. Have the time and location of first
interviews ready to be announced if you are a primary delegation leader.
Encourage alumni to come and speak at the meeting.
