Orientation Meetings

When and where should I begin student orientation meetings?
Schedule a social gathering and/or the first orientation meeting 45-70 days after the information meeting. Meeting number two should be 30-45 days after the first orientation meeting. Meeting number three should be 30-45 days after the second orientation meeting. The fourth meeting should be 30-45 days after the third orientation meeting.

You will receive an Orientation Meeting Kit in the fall with much more information, including agendas, activities, and setup help.

How many orientation meetings should I conduct?
You are required to hold a minimum of 12 hours of orientation meetings. We suggest four three-hour meetings. If you want to hold 6 meetings, please rearrange the orientation meeting materials and guidelines to your own meeting planning.

Can I be reimbursed for any expenses incurred?
We will reimburse you for necessary and reasonable expenses incurred during the pre-travel period. A list of acceptable and unacceptable expenses can be found on the leader website. Select Leader Resources in the menu on the left-hand side of the page, then follow the links through Leader-Specific Resources, Forms and Templates, and Expense Report to Pre-Travel Expense Report Guidelines. If in doubt, contact your area director or area coordinator before spending any money.

In order to be reimbursed, you must submit a completed expense report accompanied by receipts. Keep a photocopy of all expense forms and receipts for your files.
