Common Concerns
What if my child takes medications?

It is very difficult (and in some cases impossible) to ship medications internationally or fill a prescription in another country. Therefore, we recommend the following steps to ensure your child's medication needs are satisfied:

  • Leave all medication in its original packaging with all prescription details.

  • Bring extra medication in case of loss or damage.

  • Discuss the issue of time zone changes with your physician to ensure that your child will receive proper dosages at the right time of day. You should also consider alternatives for medications that require refrigeration, as refrigeration is not possible while traveling.

  • Make sure your delegation leader is aware of all medications your child is taking. Your teacher leader will ask for this information during the orientation meetings before departure.

Back
The Student Ambassador journey begins long before departure.

You and your child will attend six two-hour orientation meetings to prepare during the months before the delegation embarks on the Student Ambassador journey.

In addition to learning the details of the journey and the destination, your family will meet fellow delegates and their families. You will get to know your area delegation leaders and observe how they supervise the delegates. For many Student Ambassadors, lifelong friendships begin at the very first meeting.

Count on these informative, interactive orientation meetings to help you:
  • Learn about the culture and history of your child's destination.
  • Find out just what to pack.
  • Review all air and land travel details.
  • Answer any other questions you or your child may have about the journey.
  • Meet delegation leaders and see them in action.
