Since the founding of People to People International in 1956 by President Dwight D. Eisenhower, our organization has been dedicated to the mission of promoting world peace through increased understanding between the citizens of the world.

As President Eisenhower explained when announcing the formation of People to People as part of the U.S. State Department, "... people in the long run are going to do more to promote peace than our governments."

Over the past five decades, eight U.S. presidents have served as the honorary chairman of People to People International. We look forward to the next class of Student Ambassadors exploring the world in the highest traditions of our presidential heritage.
